9th May is Europe day, the official date when WWII officially ended in Europe in 1945. This brought about a great hope for peace and progress for humankind. Eighty years on however people everywhere are concerned with the proliferation of War and war ideology, and the massive waste of resources on weapons. People in Europe are particularly concerned that the EU and its national governments want to lead us into more wars - thus betraying all the basic European principles of peace, democracy, freedom and international understanding. https://europeanpeaceproject.eu/ 

That is why they are saying 'On Friday May 9  – it’s time to set an example
for the peaceful future of Europe' 

In Ireland, Lex Innocentium 21st Century - A Law of the Innocents for the 21st Century have decided on the symbolic GPO in Dublin as the Venue for this Europe wide Peace Initiative. Readings of the Manifesto / Proclamation for Peace will be read in both Gaeilge and English. Elected representative Catherine Connolly TD (https://youtu.be/oIXrFco3CeA?si=xzFDF6CyDijuye_N) has very kindly agreed to read it as Gaeilge at the GPO.
